Business Need: In retail energy it is critical to make an accurate prediction of how much gas will be purchased. In order to make these predictions, massive amounts of information are analyzed. Shell Energy wanted the ability to measure the following:
All this information gives Shell Energy the ability to make fast, accurate, and effective decisions on how much gas the supply group should buy. Solution: We work with an existing team in Shell Energy to design the star schema data warehouse, design Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) process, and cube design. We allow the business to look at three years worth of consumption data and see the consumption trend.
