The Sam Houston Area Council Boy Scouts of America wanted to leverage their web presence to achieve maximum results from their IT investments and use the Internet to stay in touch with their constituents.
With the PubPoint implementation, over 90 staff members and volunteers throughout the 17 counties it oversees, author content on the new web site. The PubPoint CMS incorporates existing business process thereby reducing time to release and post changes to the site. The site uses most all of the PubPoint modules, including the forms module, which has proven most valuable by reducing paperwork and saving time for everyone. The Council recently integrated e-commerce, allowing visitors to now pay for items and register for events online. The implementation of the PubPoint software has already saved the Council $45,000 in application development costs. After implementation of the PubPoint tool, traffic to the Council Web site increased from 50 average unique visitors per day to 1200 per day. In January 2004, the Council received over 2 million hits on its Web site.
