Coral Energy EAI

Coral Energy needed a server based application to interact with a 3rd party data vendor, ESG, to receive and send EDI transactions. Required functionalities:

• Download and Upload through FTP;
• Record file and transaction lifecycle;
• Parsing of "Mixed Record" EDI file from flat file (delimited or XML) and standardize into XML;
• Apply business logic;
• Deliver transactions to Enterprise System(s); Maintain Audit trail;
• Provide Reporting and Work Queue monitoring.

We designed a system called Energy Transaction Automation System (ETAS). There are three phases to ETAS and this particular solution was implemented for the1st phase. We designed a database structure to maintain the configuration of a transaction file. We created four different processes to do specific functionality and maintain the transaction lifecycle. XML and XSL were used to apply the business logic and instructions to be done with a transaction. The result:

• Standard form of transaction (XML);
• User or Business can redefine the business logic and instruction in the XSL;
• Supports multiple vendors and multiple EDI file formats.
